The good news is that the qualities that matter most online — patience, judgement, subject knowledge and a willingness to be genuinely helpful — tend to increase with age, not decrease.

Begin by narrowing rather than broadening. One topic, one format, one audience. A small project you finish is worth more than an ambitious one you abandon.

Give yourself a season, not a deadline. Three months of consistent, modest effort will tell you far more about whether a model suits you than any amount of reading.

Finally, keep the costs low at the start. Almost every model worth pursuing can be tested for the price of a domain name and a few evenings of your time.
